College leads the way for dyslexic students
KING Edward VI College claims to be leading the way with dyslexia support and screening - identifying at least 30 students a year with the condition.
Affected youngsters at the Lower High Street college are provided with many resources to help with their studies, from one-to-one support to a range a visual support aids.
Assistant principal Anne Robinson said the experience at the college contradicted recent national headlines which claimed support for dyslexic students was only available in private schools.
She said: "We are very proud of the support we give students at King Ed's. Many students with dyslexia find they can improve their own confidence and self esteem by knowing that it is not their fault.
"High performance in examinations is often as a result of a multitude of skilful practices students have had to adopt in order to get round the challenges dyslexia presents."
