Race attack man sent to crown - court

A 20-year-old man convicted of racially aggravated common assault will be sentenced at crown court.

Anthony Hannay, of Grenville Road, Worcester, was found guilty of repeatedly punching another man in the face in December last year.

He failed to turn up for the trial, on Thursday, February 28, and had previously denied the offence.

Hannay will also be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court for using threatening and abusive behaviour towards a woman, on Wednesday, March 12.

He admitted the offence and the failure to answer bail in relation to the crime at an earlier hearing, on Friday, April 4.

Sitting at Worcester Magistrates Court District Judge Bruce Morgan said: "It is quite clear my powers are not sufficient for sentencing in relation to these crimes."

The judge jailed Hannay for a total of 41 days after he admitted breaching his youth licence by failing to attend a probation service appointment, in January, and for a bail offence.

Hannay is due to appear at crown court on Friday, June 13.
